AIM

The aim of the Dzodze, Ghana Mission Hospital, is to empower and support patients with multi-factorial medical problems in order to maximize their health and deal with psychological, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of their illness. The clinic uses an understanding of wholeness and health which depends upon the relationship between the physical, psychological and spiritual elements of a person in both enhancing healings and also improving the ability to cope with the effects of chronic disease.

OBJECTIVES

To focus on the prevention of diseases by promoting good oral health to all patients attending our practice for care and advice.

To provide patients with an experience and environment that is comfortable, friendly and relaxing.

To understand and meet the needs of our patients, involve them in decisions about their care and encourage them to participate fully.

To carry out yearly satisfaction surveys of the people who use our services and use the results to make prompt changes where required.

To involve other professionals in the care of our patients where this is in the patient's best interests; for example, referral for specialist care and advice.

To ensure that all members of our team have the right skills and training to carry out their duties competently.

To assess the health of patients using a whole-person health care model which encompasses physical, psychological, social and spiritual aspects.

To build up the person’s ability to cope with chronic illness as well as improve their internal defence mechanisms.

To seek a resolution to ill-health problems in the person through an exploration of the psychological and spiritual elements in the disease process.

To examine issues around the way in which patients have control over the provision of health care for themselves, identifying ways in which they can exercise more positive participation in the process of becoming healthier.

To identify a person’s mental and spiritual strengths and weaknesses and work with them to strengthen their ability to remain healthy despite the presence of disease processes.
